The word beauty is usually associated with women, which shouldn’t be the case. Beauty is all about looking your best, which applies to all sexes. Following a few basic beauty routines will not only improve your look, it can improve your confidence and your attitude. Grooming yourself doesn’t mean you are less masculine, it means you take pride in your appearance, and trust me, the ladies will love it.

Facial Care

Keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated helps stave off wrinkles and keeps your skin looking fresh. Because of this, it is important to moisturize your skin after washing and before bedtime. A facial moisturizer with SPF helps moisturize your skin, while protecting it from sun damage.

Many men rely on one bar of soap to wash their entire body, from their head to their feet. This may not be the best option for the delicate skin on your face, as some bar soaps contain harsh chemicals that can irritate and dry out your skin. Besides, why would you want to wash your face with the same bar of soap that you use to wash your armpits? Buy a separate facial soap. Better yet, buy a facial scrub, which contains exfoliating particles that not only clean your face, but also remove dead skin and help prevent pimples.

Nail Care

Unless you dig holes in dirt with your bare hands for a living, there is no reason you should have dirt-filled, crusty fingernails. Whether on a man or a woman, well-manicured hands not only look good, but they say “I care about my appearance”. If you have the time and the extra cash, don’t be afraid to go get a professional manicure. If you’re not quite brave enough to step into the salon or you want to save a little money, ask a female in your life – your mom, sister, girlfriend or wife – to give you a manicure. Chances are she will be happy to oblige. The same rules apply for your toes. At a bare minimum, be sure to trim them with nail clippers (not your teeth) and clean out any dirt they may accumulate.

Hair Care

While you may be tempted to opt for the 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner combo that’s on sale at your local drugstore, consider buying separate shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo helps remove dirt, oil and any other nasty things that might be in your hair, while conditioner’s main purpose is to moisturize and strengthen the hair. Because the roles of each product differ significantly, each one can serve its purpose better on its own. Keep in mind, this does not mean you do not have to spend a ton of money on fancy shampoos and conditioners. Drug store brands work just fine.

Manscaping

Manscaping is a recently popular term that describes a man’s grooming of his body hair. While the 5 o’clock shadow may be acceptable, and even preferred by some women, bushy unibrows and spider-like nose hairs are not all right. Use small grooming scissors to trim off excess eyebrow hair and tweeze, yes you heard right, any eyebrow hairs that create a unibrow. Use a nose hair trimmer to remove any out of control nose hairs. If you prefer to use scissors, choose a pair with rounded tips to avoid any injuries.
